Best Place To Stay in Delhi
There are regular queries from tourist about where to stay in Delhi. In this post I am trying to share info about different areas, their pros and con.
Attractions/Market in Delhi are quite scattered in different areas so there is no area which can be actually beneficial for sight seeing, overall in the end of day total distance covered would be nearly same (as most tourist specially foreigners prefer to hire cab on disposal for sight seeing). The selection of areas more depends on budget/transit mode/idea of spending evening etc.
CP is the tourist hub in Delhi having lots of (upscale) hotels, places to eat and drink, also centrally located and connected to all area of Delhi by metro, best area to stay for those budget is not an issue or wants to explore delhi by own or wants to spend evening exoloring around hotel for food or drink.Rajeev Chowk,Patel Chowk,Janpath,Barakhamba are the metro stations in the vicinity of CP depending upon location of hotel.CP is also connected to IGI airport by high speed dedicated metro taking less than 20 minute,Shivaji stadium and New Delhi are two metro station near CP depending upon location of hotel. You will also get many touts in the area who will persuade you to visit government tourist office, just avoid then, there are hundreds of those travel agents who show themself as goverment tourist office but actually they are private one selling products at inflated rates. There is only one government tourist office situated at Janpath and they are are mainly a consultancy/information office and they dont have field agents/touts to get tourist there. There are many attractions which are very close to CP which can be easily visited using metro.
